Our Story

Like many 1st generation Vietnamese families here in the US, my parents immigrated to America from Vietnam but missed the community and rich and diverse foods from their home country.

I have fond memories of helping my mother make her giant pot of pho and inviting friends and family over to eat. Her pho was the best. In 1999, my parents put that passion towards the first Pho So 1 in Dorchester, MA. After relocating the restaurant to Randolph, MA and serving the community for over 20 years, our family has decided to expand our reach further to Quincy, MA. As a mom myself now, I hope to inspire appreciation for Vietnamese culture and foods in my children as well as for the next generation of patrons for our restaurant.

I imagined a place that celebrates Vietnamese cuisine and drew inspiration from my travels abroad and through food tours in Vietnamese hubs around the country. I’ve always looked for ingredients that would set our restaurant’s dishes apart. For example for authenticity in taste we removed some of the flare from our pho and also sourced dragon leaves (rau tien vua) from Vietnam and smoked veal (be thui) from Texas for our goi. To me, good food will bring people together and those are the memories that can never be forgotten. We can’t wait to share our interpretation with the Quincy community.
